There are some alcoholics that may be aware that their drinking is problematic. They may have tried to quit on their own but have failed at their attempts. Unfortunately, many alcoholics will suffer from feelings of hopelessness and depression due to their inability to quick drinking on their own.
Obstetricians and other health care providers are beginning to be trained to assess all women's drinking behavior during prenatal visits; this assessment can open the door for clinicians to counsel women more intensely about the dangers of drinking alcohol during pregnancy.
Alcohol intoxication impaired brain function resulting in poor judgment, reduced reaction time, loss of balance and motor skills, or slurred speech.
When a person drinks six to seven alcoholic drinks, vomiting can occur, except in the case of the person that has developed a tolerance to alcohol; the person may get drowsy and could display emotional instability, and impairment of perception, memory, and comprehension.
