An alcoholic will continue to drink despite the negative effects to their health, family, job related or legal problems; the risk for developing alcoholism can be heavily influenced by environmental factors.
In cases where an alcoholic is not willing to seek the help that they so desperately are in need of, this can be a challenging situation for their loved ones; the person can only be forced to get help if they are determined to be dangerous to themselves or others.
